The full soundtrack for Thor: Ragnarok officially hit iTunes and Spotify this weekend with just a few weeks left until the film debuts stateside and it looks to be as striking as its film counterpart.

When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while the movies have typically found praise both among fans and critics — the previous two Thor films being the exception — the music has always been considered forgettable by both. Outside of 2012’s The Avengers, many have found the scores on these films to be lacking, something that should change with the release of Thor: Ragnarok next month. Along with bringing in Taika Waititi to leave his mark on the film, which has thus far proven to be the right move, Marvel Studios opted to change things up on the composer side, as well, this time turning to Devo front man, Mark Mothersbaugh, to craft an ’80s-heavy soundtrack for the the latest Thor installment, and it’s safe to say Mothersbaugh delivered.
The soundtrack includes twenty-three tracks and is available to purchase now from iTunes for only $9.99. It opens with a song titled “Ragnarok Suite,” and features expected titles such as “Hela vs. Asgard” and “Arena Fight,” while also featuring surprising titles such as “Devil’s Anus” and “Grandmaster Jam Session.” Many reviewers had cited Mothersbaugh’s soundtrack as one of the many great things about Thor: Ragnarok, and after having a listen, it’s clear that this soundtrack very clearly matches the ’80s pulp vision we’ve seen so far, while also carving out a very distinct sound for a previously divisive franchise.
