Considering Wonder Woman has never held her proteges as closely under her wing as Batman, it’s not surprising the Wonder Girls have grown and learned to stand out on their own. Being a Wonder Girl is a tough job, however, as Wonder Woman is the first lady of superheroes, the measuring stick by which other female heroes tend to be measured.
Whether that’s a fair or unfair standard for them, the Wonder Girls are the first ones to be measured up against Wonder Woman. Being reasonable, the real question isn’t how well they measure up to Diana, but how well they can measure up to being the best heroes they can be.
5 Yuri Katsura And Emily Sung Both Carried On Wonder Woman’s Legacy

In the main universe, both Emily Sung and Yuki Katsura are dealt a bad hand. Yuki Katsura is a generic member of a biker gang who gets beat up by Batgirl once. Meanwhile, Emily Sung becomes the Element Woman, who seemingly has about as much control over her body as Metamorpho does. In the DC Bombshells universe, both characters become members of the Wonder Girls.
Here, Wonder Woman sacrifices herself to give everyone the power to see the truth about themselves. With her gone, her weapons are passed on to all the Wonder Girls. Both Yuki and Emily gain their own bracelets as well as a silver lasso of truth. Neither of these two are seen often enough to make an indelible mark on the Wonder Girl mythology, but they both show they have what it takes to continue on in Diana’s legacy.
4 Yara Flor Comes From A Different Tribe Of Amazons
The name “Wonder Girl” for Yara is a bit of a misnomer, as she’s already in her twenties when her story begins. Her mother is a child of Themyscira and leaves the island to satisfy her wanderlust. Eventually, Yara’s mother falls in love with a god and has Yara, making her a demigoddess like the other members of the Wonder Woman family.
Yara’s legend has only just begun, so she’s got plenty of awesome moments ahead of her. That said, she’s off to a great start so far. It’s not even been two years yet since Yara’s appearance in Future State, and already she’s gone to Mount Olympus, trained with the gods, and made an enemy of Hera. Yara punches her way out of Olympus and finds her way back to Earth, where she’s attempting to become the next champion of Doom’s Doorway.
3 Diana Was Technically The First Wonder Girl
Golden and Silver Age stories were never shy of showing superheroes in their youth. For Wonder Woman, as early as the ’40s they were telling tales where Wonder Woman was a child and as a teenager. Marston himself displayed Diana as a teenager, and in some Wonder Woman comics in the late ’50s they even showed her using her powers as a baby, referring to her as Wonder Tot.
While this would undoubtedly bring Donna and Cassie an endless amount of enjoyment, in the end that era wasn’t considered canon. However, later on during the Bronze Age, Wonder Woman reflected on a time when she took on the name Wonder Girl for teenage adventures. Young Diana stories still proved common today. Even though she’s a bit more headstrong and impulsive, Diana was every bit the compassionate hero she became as an adult.
2 Cassie Sandsmark Has Had The Roughest Road With Her Powers
Cassie Sandsmark’s mother Helena had established a connection with Wonder Woman because of their shared love of archeology. Through her mother’s connection, Cassie got to know Wonder Woman as well. The longer she hung out with her hero, the more likely Cassie winding up with superpowers became. However, Cassie’s connection to her powers would prove to be tenuous.
Cassie began relying on special artifacts, but when she earned a boon from Zeus, she asked for powers of her own. Since then, she lost and gained her powers again and again because of her connection to the gods. Regardless, when Cassie had them she always used them for good. Cassie was a member of both Young Justice and multiple incarnations of the Teen Titans, fighting to save the world and doing a great job at being Wonder Woman for the next generation.
1 Donna Troy Is The Standard Bearer For All Wonder Girls
Donna Troy might not go by the name Wonder Girl anymore, but that doesn’t mean she’s not the best of them. She’s a founding member of the Teen Titans, and has spent years working alongside them and other heroes. Her origins have changed numerous times, but no matter what happens to Donna’s past, she continues helping other people.
Donna’s devotion to being a hero was so great, she even joined the Darkstars, a group of space police made to rival the Green Lanterns. Her talent there was nothing less than extraordinary, even though they weren’t allowed to keep those powers for very long. Donna was also the only one of the Wonder Girls — aside from Diana — to have been an active member of the Justice League.
