Webtoon Kicks Off Contest Looking for the Next Big Action Comic


Submissions are now open for Webtoon’s 2022 Call to Action Contest, which gives aspiring comic creators a chance to win $50,000 and more.

WEBTOON is searching for its next big hit with its Call to Action Contest, which is now open for submissions.

Comic creators everywhere can participate in the competition. Participants must submit original artwork between June 1st and July 31st to enter the competition and be considered for the competition. The top three winners will receive offers to become WEBTOON ORIGINALS creators and receive cash prizes. First place will win $50,000, a Clip Studio Paint EX license, and have their story adapted into a short shonen-style animated video; second place will receive $30,000 and a Clip Studio Paint EX license; and third place will win $20,000 and a Clip Studio Paint EX license. The fourth to tenth place finalists will also receive a cash prize of $5,000 each and a Clip Studio Paint EX license while the top 10 honorable mentions will each receive a Clip Studio Paint EX license. WEBTOON’s panel of judges will announce the winners of the Call to Action Contest on September 30th. Comic creators can view the full contest terms and entry conditions that are available on WEBTOON’s website.

The contest is looking for the webcomic platform’s next big action hit, as action and shonen have long been the most popular genre of manga.

In addition to looking for their next action hit, WEBTOON is also promoting some of the platform’s biggest existing hits in the genre, including the the acclaimed fantasy manhwa Tower of God, unOrdinary, and The God of High School, a popular battle series that was adapted into an anime by director Sunghoo Park, who is now best known for his work on the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise. Action readers may also enjoy additional titles like Ordeal, Gul, Doom Breaker, and Code Adam.
