Eiko has been receiving help from Nanami in the last few episodes of Ya Boy Kongming!. Episode 8 suggests the latter is not just an ordinary busker.
The following contains spoilers for Ya Boy Kongming! Episode 8 “Searching for Oneself,” now streaming on HIDIVE.
Ya Boy Kongming!‘s aspiring singer Eiko has finally obtained an opportunity to perform on a grand stage, but it comes with a price. To earn her place, Eiko was tasked to garner at least 100,000 likes on a social media post. Kongming was convinced it was doable, though it wouldn’t be as easy as some of Eiko’s previous feats. Kongming had already recruited Kabetaijin, a three-time rap battle champion, but this time Eiko must do her share of legwork.
Eiko had proven the power of her voice, showing a fantastic singing ability with a wide range. It wasn’t skills she was lacking; the problem was that she didn’t have her own voice — she was simply mimicking the song’s original artist, making her rendition less notable. With Kongming’s indirect aid, she found herself busking with a random girl she met. However, Episode 8 of Ya Boy Kongming! hints that Eiko’s newest friend is not simply a random stranger.
After helping Nanami out of a tricky situation, the two singers immediately hit it off. Nanami helped Eiko with performing in the streets in Episode 7, and their performing stint continued here. This time, however, the two girls were noticeably much closer than before. They not only sang on the streets, they also ate out and even went to a public bath together. Nanami gave Eiko a few notes on singing after the latter told her about wanting to impress someone. However, Eiko never explicitly told her friend about Summer Sonia.
Nanami somewhat became Eiko’s ideal, and she explicitly admitted that after her and Kabetaijin’s jamming session. She acknowledged her new friend’s talent but also seems to be hiding her own secrets, There were a few occasions where Nanami wanted to say something, only to be interrupted by Eiko. Interestingly, Episode 8 ended with someone calling Nanami. After taking the call, she disappeared once Azalea’s promotional truck passed by her.
Even though Nanami’s possible other identity is yet to be revealed, numerous hints are shown in Episode 8. Her discomfort and hesitation as she tried to tell Eiko her secret suggests that it is no trivial matter. The call at the end of the episode is also suspicious, especially when Nanami disappeared behind the passing truck. Piecing all these clues together, there is a high likelihood that Nanami is a member of Azalea. Given the length of her hair, she also seems to be the group’s leader, ultimately making her Eiko’s rival in the 100,000 likes event.
Nanami has become a beacon of light during Eiko’s dark slump, as the latter admired her new friend’s talent and also took her as an ideal singer. However, events in Episode 8 of Ya Boy Kongming! make it seem like Nanami isn’t just an ordinary busker. There is also a good chance that Kongming is already aware of this, and these supposed coincidences are nothing more than small steps from the historical figure’s big, intricate plan.
