Wanda Maximoff, Marvel’s Scarlet Witch, is joining Fortnite as her MCU counterpart lights up theaters in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Marvel’s Scarlet Witch is joining Fortnite, just in time to coincide with the theatrical release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which features Wanda Maximoff as a main character.
Scarlet Witch is available now in Fortnite‘s Item Shop, reported IGN. She comes with a new Back Bling, Pickaxe and Loading Screen. Her outfit and the Back Bling can be enabled with a unique effect, lighting up with Chaos Magic when opponents take damage. Scarlet Witch also has a Chaos Hand Axe Pickaxe available as a separate purchase, and all her items plus the Through the Mirror Dimension Loading Screen are included in the Scarlet Witch Bundle for players who want as much Wanda as they can get.
Fortnite‘s connections to Marvel go way back, with various characters and skins from both Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe for players to choose from. Doctor Strange himself was added just before Multiverse of Madness hit theaters, as part of the game’s Chapter 3: Season 2 Battle Pass. The crossovers go both ways, too, as this June Marvel will launch a new five-part comic miniseries titled Fortnite x Marvel: Zero War that blends elements of Fortnite with classic Marvel characters.
In the MCU, Scarlet Witch first appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron, played by Elizabeth Olsen. Her personal journey has been full of tragedy, but like her comics counterpart, she’s extremely powerful and capable of bending reality itself, leading to a major impact on the MCU. After starring in the Disney+ series WandaVision, Olsen reprised the role again for Multiverse of Madness, appearing opposite Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange for a chaotic, high-stakes adventure.
