A variant cover for Deathstroke Inc. #11 — by writer Ed Brisson and artist Dexter Soy — reveals Slade Wilson/Deathstroke’s puppy.
DC released its solicitations and covers for the comics releasing in July. Among them is the solicitation for Deathstroke Inc. #11 and three covers for the book. The 1:25 variant by Ivan Tao features a family portrait of Deathstroke’s family, and among their ranks is a cute little puppy. You can see that cover below.
The plot synopsis for Deathstroke Inc. #11 reads, “‘Deathstroke: Year One’ continues! To escape the banality of family life, Slade Wilson, the failed soldier and test subject, undertakes his first assassination mission. His target is the last surviving doctor from the experiment that gave him his powers! Slade doesn’t need his heightened senses to tell him something is wrong with all of this…but will his intuition stay his hand when the time comes for the final death stroke?”
The “Deathstroke: Year One” storyline begins in June’s Deathstroke Inc. #10 and will run for six issues. The arc promises to dig into Deathstroke’s past and is the first with the new creative team mentioned above. The solicitation information for the series makes clear Deathstroke will be looking into the organization that gave him his powers. However, along the way, he’ll learn all is not what it seems.
Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, Deathstroke first appeared in 1980’s The New Teen Titans #2. Originally, Deathstroke served as an enemy of that team of young sidekicks. However, over the years, he’s also faced off against the Justice League. In recent years, Deathstroke also become a major for foe Bruce Wayne/Batman. In terms of his powers, Deathstroke is an expert with weaponry and has a number of enhanced physical abilities that help him stand toe-to-toe with some of the DC Universe’s heaviest hitters. Deathstroke has appeared in a number of different live-action shows, including Arrow, where he was played by Manu Bennett; Titans, where he was played by Esai Morales; and Justice League, where he was played by Joe Manganiello.
Deathstroke Inc. #11 releases July 26 from DC. The issue features a main cover by Mikel Janin and variants by Francesco Mattina and Ivan Tao. Brisson and Soy’s run starts with Deathstroke Inc. #10 on June 28.
