Skybound Entertainment, the company run by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, are teaming with Universal Pictures to develop the comic Kill the Minotaur into a feature film.
The comic, written by Christian Cantamessa and Chris Pasetto, with art by Lukas Ketner and Jean-Francois Beaulieu, will be adapted and produced by Kirkman and his Skybound partner David Alpert alongside the company’s co-presidents Bryan Furst and Sean Furst.

Launched last June, Kill The Minotaur is a modern take on the ancient Greek tale of Theseus and the Minotaur, a vicious creature that’s half-man, half-bull and requires human sacrifices. In this retelling of the myth, Theseus has to enter King Minos’ Labyrinth, but it’s filled with much more drama, twists and turns. The reimagined take on the Greek hero comes complete with gore and profanity, painting a comic clearly tailored for adult audiences.
“When we created the comic, we wanted to put our own spin on a classic Greek myth, incorporating strong relatable characters and spectacular scenes so it would read like a blockbuster movie. It’s a dream come true that we can now make this story come alive on the big screen,” said both writers in a joint statement.
The duo are attached to write the script for this feature adaptation, having already co-written the 2015 Skybound-produced movie Air starring Norman Reedus and Djimon Hounsou, which Cantamessa himself directed.
