Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard explains why he’s so adamant about keeping the upcoming feature film’s list of guest stars a secret.
Loren Bouchard, the creator behind the popular animated sitcom Bob’s Burgers, recently discussed the guest stars who will be featured in the upcoming featured film centered around the Belcher family — though he’s keeping tight-lipped on who exactly they are.
“We love our guest stars,” Bouchard said of the guest stars who have graced Bob’s Burgers over the years while speaking with The Illuminerdi. “We have had people come and do the show out of the sheer goodness of their hearts especially when we just early on. They just trusted us and trusted us with their voices and that’s such a pleasure. And I never would pick a favorite. I can’t because we just feel so appreciative to every single one of them who’ve either come for a one time or who have come back.”
Bouchard then explained why he’s being careful not to say too much regarding which celebrities from the show’s past will appear in the upcoming movie. “That’s always so fun to build up a little bit of a relationship with kind of a troop, a larger ensemble of people,” he said. “And some of these folks, their careers are so big in a lot of ways asking them to do the movie was like asking them to hurt their career ’cause they’re working on other stuff. And it’s like we don’t want to take away time from your busy career and as a result we said, ‘Hey we’re not gonna use your name. We’re not trying to do a movie that has a bunch of cameos that’s gonna be some promotable thing.'”
He concluded, “So, a lot of our favorite returning guest stars we can’t tell you about. You’ll have to see. But we do love that there’s a community of people out there who’ve lent us their voices and we just hope to be able to keep making a home for those folks.”
Bob’s Burgers follows Bob Belcher as he runs his burger restaurant alongside his wife, Linda, and their children, Tina, Gene and Louise. The show focuses on the various trials and tribulations the Belchers go through as they hilariously attempt to keep their business afloat, as well as the adventures they embark on as a family. 20th Century Fox announced in 2017 that a film based on the series was in development. The movie will feature the Belchers on an all-new adventure as a sinkhole blocks the entrance to their restaurant, driving away the ample business they could have received during the Summer rush. While their parents try all that they can to keep the restaurant from shutting down, Tina, Gene and Louise attempt to unravel a mystery that could save the family business.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie will be released theatrically on May 27.
