Marvel’s Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters event debuts “Wanted Poster” variant covers starring the Fetts, Qi’ra, Doctor Aphra and more.
As part of Marvel’s Star Wars comic book crossover event War of the Bounty Hunters, various Star Wars titles releasing next month will ship with special “Wanted Poster” variant covers by artist David Nakayama, starring some fan-favorite criminals from the galaxy far, far away.
“Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters, the crossover that’s overtaken the galaxy, heats up this August!” Marvel Comics said in its official release. “The story, set after Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, revealed that on route to Jabba the Hutt, Boba Fett lost the carbonite-encased Han Solo and ignited an epic hunt between pursuers from all corners of the galaxy. The Rebellion, the Empire, the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunters, and a few surprise players are all hot on the trail, and fans can see just how dangerous the hunt has become for their favorite characters on new wanted poster variant covers by superstar artist David Nakayama.”
Marvel has revealed a total of six “Wanted Poster” variants for the War of the Bounty Hunters event, each of which highlights a different character. First and foremost, we have the infamous Fetts: Jango and Boba. Then, there’s Star Wars‘ original scoundrel himself, Han Solo, as well as his one-time love interest, Qi’ra (of Solo: A Star Wars Story fame). Finally, we have Marvel’s own Doctor Aphra and Beilert Valance.
Marvel explains that, “[t]hroughout the month of August, Nakayama’s stunning takes on Valance, Qi’ra, Doctor Aphra, Jango Fett, Boba Fett and, of course, Han Solo will grace the covers of the main Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters limited series, the tie-in issues of your favorite ongoing Star Wars titles and the upcoming one-shot, War of the Bounty Hunters: 4-LOM & Zuckuss #1.” Things kick off on Aug. 4, with the last of the variants expected to hit comic shops on Aug. 25.
