Heroes Reborn One-Shot Homages The Night Gwen Stacy Dies… With Falcon (Exclusive)

An upcoming Heroes Reborn one-shot from Marvel is paying homage to ‘The Night Gwen Stacy Died,’ albeit with Falcon meeting his tragic end.

Marvel Comics has announced another Heroes Reborn one-shot, this time paying homage to “The Night Gwen Stacy Died.”

Heroes Reborn: Marvel Double Action #1 is written by Tim Seeley and illustrated by Dan Jurgens. As evidenced by Dave Johnson’s cover art, this one-shot will reimagine “The Night Gwen Stacy Died” with Falcon meeting his tragic end and Nighthawk swearing vengeance on the Green Goblin.

“I grew up on the Squadron Supreme maxi-series Marvel put out in the 80s,” Seeley said. “It was my Watchmen before I was old enough to read Watchmen. What Jason has created here takes a lot of those themes and updates them for 2021, while reaching back and creating new stories out of Marvel history. I get to dive into the 1970 with Dan Jurgens and tell a new/old tale of Nighthawk that I think will shock and wow fans.”

“The Night Gwen Stacy Died” was an arc that took place in 1973’s The Amazing Spider-Man #121-122, by Gerry Conway, Gil Kane, John Romita Sr., Tony Mortellaro, David Hunt and Artie Simek. In it, the Green Goblin throws Gwen Stacy from atop the George Washington Bridge and although Spider-Man is able to use his webs to catch her before she crashes to the ground below, the whiplash snaps her neck.
