Porgs are the latest, adorable addition to the Star Wars universe, and they haven’t even debuted in one of the franchise’s films yet. The tiny, big-eyed creatures – a cross between a penguin and a furry woodland mammal – are slated to appear in this year’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi. A new animated short confirms what previous installments have hinted at: The porgs are a mischievous force to be reckoned with.
The latest Star Wars Blips animated short, titled “Stowaway,” focuses on a porg that has found its way aboard the Millennium Falcon right before the ship makes a hyperspace jump. The ship is being piloted by Chewbacca and the droid BB-8, neither of whom are excited to see the strange creature, especially when it starts pulling on the Wookiee’s hair.

A previous animated short also put BB-8 on the receiving end of a porg horde’s mischievous antics, the creatures having stolen the droid’s head. This forces BB-8’s rolling body to search in vain for its missing, incredibly important appendage. Little is known about the porgs so far, but what has been shown hints that the diminutive alien species will bring an extra dash of chaos to The Last Jedi when the movie debuts later this year.
Debuting in theater on December 15, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a production of Lucasfilm directed by Rian Johnson and starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
