A Hellion Was Just Turned Into an Earth-Shattering Bomb

A Hellions killed during X of Swords has been revived but held in stasis out of fear over how destructive their powers really are.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Hellions #7 by Zeb Wells, Stephen Segovia, David Curiel, & VC’s Cory Petit, on sale now.

The Krakoa resurrection process afforded to the X-Men by the Five has allowed most mutants to overcome death itself. But there’s one mutant who’s resurrection might just end up dooming more than just the mutant heroes.

Although Wild Child and Nanny were resurrected easily following their deaths in Arakko during “X of Swords”, Orphan-Maker’s powers make him a more complicated restoration, with the potential of his powers reaching maturity threatening not just Krakoa but possibly the entire world.

Orphan-Maker is a mysterious mutant, introduced in X-Factor #31 by Louise and Walter Simonson. Originally held captive by Mister Sinister, Nanny “rescued” the young man known only as Peter from Sinister before he could truly figure out Peter’s mutation. Out of fear over Peter’s powers, Sinister had sought to murder the young man. Instead, Nanny constructed Peter a special suit of armor that provided him with enhanced strength, durability, and kept his mutation from reaching full maturity. The pair traveled the world, capturing mutant children and killing their parents. This is what earned Peter the title of Orphan-Maker.

With the creation of Krakoa, Orphan-Maker and Nanny have been given a new home and eventually assigned to the Hellions. However, during their mission into Arakko during the course of” X of Swords”, the group was attacked by the mysterious Tarn and his Locust Vile. The group quickly killed Nanny and Orphan-Maker, forcing the rest of the team to flee while Wild Child remained behind to cover their escape. While Wild Child and Nanny were resurrected with relative ease by the Five back on Krakoa (and even gained minor improvements to their minds and bodies from the process), Orphan-Maker has been forcibly held in stasis for fear that his mutant powers could activate without one of his suits to contain it.
