According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thwaites will star in the lead role as Batman’s former sidekick Robin turned leader of the Titans. The series will debut in 2018 on Warner Bros. new DC Comics-branded digital service, alongside the third season of the animated Young Justice.
The Titans are described as “a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven and others.”
“Dick Grayson is one of the most important and iconic heroes in the DC universe, and it wasn’t easy to find him but we have,” DC Entertainment President & CCO Geoff Johns said in a statement. “Brenton has the emotional depth, heart, danger and physical presence of Batman’s former protégé and the Titans’ future leader. We’re extremely lucky he’s chosen to bring his talents to this project and this character.”

A live-action Titans series had been in development at TNT before being shelved by the cable channel in 2014. However, Johns pledged in early 2015 that DC still had plans for the project. The series went into production last month, as confirmed on Twitter by Johns.
Other actors to be officially cast for the series include Teagan Croft as Raven and Anna Diop as Starfire.
Titans will be executive produced by Johns, Goldsman, Berlanti and Sarah Schechter (Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl). The series will air on Warner Bros’ new DC Comics-branded digital platform that will launch in 2018. No official release date has yet been announced.
