Wolverine is the best there is at what he does — and as revealed in Cable #2, that includes matchmaking.

Wolverine, aka James Howlett or simply “Logan,” is arguably one of the most popular superheroes in the Marvel Universe. As a longtime member of the X-Men and a fairly recent member of the Avengers, Wolverine was bred as a killing machine. That, combined with his mutant ability to heal from virtually any wound, has led to his reputation as being “the best there is at what he does.”
However, recent issues of Wolverine and Cable suggest the feral mutant just might have an equal degree of skill in the art of matchmaking.
In Benjamin Percy and Adam Kubert’s Wolverine #3, Logan is planning to take on the Pale Girl, who has proven to be a formidable psychic by taking control of the mutant’s mind and forcing him to kill his X-Force teammates. He wants to take Kid Omega with him, but Omega isn’t too keen on the idea, considering the fact that he has a tendency to die when accompanying Wolverine on missions.
However, as Quentin is rejecting Wolverine’s proposal, all five of the Stepford Cuckoos approach him and flirt with him, commending his bravery for going with Logan to take on the Pale Girl.
This ends up being a ruse in order to get Kid Omega to agree to join Wolverine — and it’s a success. However, as the five Cuckoos lead Omega away and shower him with praise, one lingers behind. In psychic contact with Wolverine, the Cuckoo reminds Logan that she and the rest of the girls are doing this for him with the understanding that he is going to set them up with the mutant they really want: Cable.
In Cable #2, it appears Wolverine has made good on his word, as Cable has taken Esme with him to investigate a crime scene. In conversation, Esme reveals that another of the Cuckoos, Celeste, has had a date with Cable already — and it didn’t go as well as expected.
Cable promises he will make it up to them and once Esme has used her psychic abilities to help him investigate a crime scene, the two share a kiss. If this scene and their prior interaction is any indication, Cable has begun to develop a relationship with at least two of the five cuckoos.
Although there hasn’t been any clarification on what Wolverine said or did to bring Cable and the five girls who make up the Stepford Cuckoos together, it’s pretty obvious at this point that he played some kind of role. Logan has proven that he is not only the best there is when it comes to violence, but also in handling matters of the heart — a lover and a fighter worthy and deserving of both titles.
