Netflix’s highly-acclaimed reboot of the Voltron mythos, Voltron: Legendary Defender, will be getting a tie-in comic come October 2017 as initially reported by Nerdist. While no specific date has been set for the bi-monthly comic, it’s worth noting that Season 4 will also premiere October 13 on Netflix following a shortened Season 3 of just seven episodes just two months prior.

Published by Lion Forge Press, the book will be written by two of the show’s writers, Tim Hedrick and Mitch Iverson, with art duties rotating from Jung Gwan Yoo to Rubine. It’s not clear when it will be set in the series’ canon but the official description reads:
“Voltron responds to a distress call, and discovers a group of alien settlers on a mining planet under attack by Galra. While Voltron escorts the convoy of rescued settlers to their new home, Hunk finds himself the center of attention and our team encounters the first challenge: a horrifying monster that requires an unusual solution.”

Last season focused on four of the fighter pilots from Earth (Keith, Hunk, Pidge and Lance) all under the watch of the Alteans, Princess Allura and Coran, as they tried to find their lost-in-space leader, Shiro. It ended with galactic conqueror, Emperor Zarkon, revived and his usurper son, Lotor, leaving Team Voltron in disarray. Fans also got a glimpse into the history of Voltron’s first group of pilots, which ironically set up Zarkon’s dark path and paved the way for this new team of pilots to uncover the mysteries of the Lions and the massive robot, Voltron, that protects the universe.
Voltron: Legendary Defender stars Tyler Labine as Hunk, Jeremy Shada as Lance, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Pidge, Kimberly Brooks as Allura, Rhys Darby as Coran, Josh Keaton as Shiro, Steven Yeun as Keith and Neil Kaplan as Emperor Zarkon. Season 4 is out October 13 on Netflix.
