Although Spider-Man veteran Willem Dafoe will bring Aquaman’s advisor Nuidis Vulko to the big-screen in the upcoming Aquaman and Justice League films, it’s still not clear what his costume will look like. However, in an interview with IGN, the actor teased a few details about what he’ll be wearing.

“Vulko is 100% Atlantean. So that’s different, because [Aquaman] is half-Atlantean and half-human,” Dafoe said. “So they’re quite different and I’m capable of being outside of the water, but mostly it’s underwater. And I’m a guy that’s been around for a while. I have a kind of… let’s call it an armor. It’s a good look, I like it a lot.”
“The day that they show the shot of the character will accomplish more than I can by talking about it now,” Dafoe continued. “I like the look very much, and know they released a toy recently. But it doesn’t look so much what I look like [in the film].”

The actor also said some kind words about Aquaman’s director and provided some information on the film’s shooting schedule. “James Wan is fantastic,” he said. “I don’t know what to tell you because I don’t want to create any spoilers. I’ve been on a little break after shooting for a couple of months off. And now, tonight I go back to Australia to shoot for about another month. But all goes well… Until people actually start seeing footage, I don’t want to spoil anything.”

Bob Haney and Howard Purcell created Nuidis Vulko for 1967’s The Brave and the Bold #73. Vulko is the chief scientific advisor for Atlantis and served as an advisor to King Trevis. The character was present for Aquaman’s birth, and has served as his regent and as King of Atlantis.
Few details are known about the plot of Aquaman, but Wan has promised a “swashbuckling action-adventure, sort of high seas adventure story” in the vein of 1980s classics like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone. He’s also teased that it’s “ultimately a quest story,” but has yet to reveal what the object of that search might be. Chronologically, the film is set after the events of Justice League, so there’s the possibility that the Mother Boxes will play a role.
