500 Days of Summer and Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb will be helming the Hollywood remake of the smash hit movie from Shinkai Makoto, Kimi no Na wa.!
Released back in 2016, Kimi no Na wa. became a worldwide box office phenomenon, picking up a series of awards both in Japan and abroad. The Hollywood live action remake was announced in Sept. 2017 and is a collaborative project produced by J.J Abrams’ Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures. Eric Heisserer will write the screenplay.
Relocating the action to the US, the Hollywood adaptation will revolve around a Native American girl living in the countryside and a boy living in Chicago who mysteriously swap bodies. The pair then realise they must meet in order to save their lives from impending disaster.
