She-Ra and the Princesses of Power to Include LGBTQ Characters

Plenty of big changes are coming to Netflix’s update of the classic hero She-Ra in She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, but one of the most forward-thinking might be the addition of LGBTQ characters into the world. According to Noelle Stevenson, the series’ executive producer, the show won’t be radically different from the original, which aired in the ’80s, but it will embrace some more modern themes.

The representation Stevenson is talking about specifically refers to the character Bow, who will have two fathers. In the original series, Bow’s name was rather apt, as he was the best archer in all Eternia. His parentage was never really explored. Stevenson also mentioned that the new series will be updating body types for its characters, which is evident in the trailer released today.
