Before Jason Momoa’s King of Atlantis surfs into theaters this December, he’ll be making a splash on Aquaman–themed variant covers to the upcoming Justice League/Aquaman crossover “Drowned Earth.”

Artist Francis Manapul will provide the Aquaman movie variant for Justice League/Aquaman: Drowned Earth #1, which features Momoa’s Aquaman and Amber Heard’s Mera striking a pose. That 48-page one-shot, by James Tynion IV and Howard Porter, will kick off the event on October 31.
Meanwhile, Francesco Mattina’s variant cover for Justice League #11 shows Momoa’s Aquaman casting an imposing impression as the King of the Seven Seas in shark-infested waters. Written by Scott Snyder with art by Manapul, the second part of the crossover is on sale November 7.
In the storyline, Aquaman and the Justice League will face off with the Ocean Lords, an ancient group of powerful entities who want to flood the world and turn Earth’s populace into fishy monsters. As if that wasn’t enough, Aquaman will also have to deal with his arch-enemy, Black Manta, and some revelations about his aquatic legacy.
