One of the most important aspect of Marvel Comics’ history is the idea of legacy. Certain superhero mantles and powers are not simply attached to one character alone. Over time, certain heroes move on or disappear, opening the door for the possibility of someone else filling their shoes. While that is something that happens all the time in comics, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is only beginning to scratch the surface of its possibilities.
Both Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp are the only films that have explored the idea of superhero legacy. First, it started with Scott Lang himself, who took on the mantle of Ant-Man after Hank Pym. Then, it continued with Hope Pym, who became the Wasp after her mother. Finally, Marvel readers also noticed that Ant-Man and the Wasp may have planted the seeds for Scott’s daughter Cassie Lang to follow in her father’s footsteps.

Well, according to a new piece of early concept art from Ant-Man and the Wasp, it looks like the road to Cassie becoming a superhero of her own was perhaps even more established. Marvel Studios’ Senior Concept Illustrator Jackson Sze revealed the concept art on his Instagram page, which features Scott and Cassie Lang having miniaturized fun in the pool with Michael Peña’s Luis. But what is perhaps most interesting in this piece of artwork is the fact that Cassie is wearing her very own shrinking suit.
We don’t see the suit in great detail, but it’s interesting to note that, at one, time, it was considered to give Cassie her own suit. In the comic books, Cassie is known to become a size-altering superhero in her own right, Stature, and a member of the Young Avengers. In the film, Cassie not-so-subtly lets her father know that she would be interested in becoming his new partner, something that could lead to the character becoming a young Avenger further down the road.
There have been rumors that a time-traveling plot in Avengers 4 could feature an older version of Cassie Lang. If those rumors are true, could she next appear as Stature?
