The latest trailer for Amazon’s remake of the classic Italian horror film Suspiria has arrived and it’s escalated the horrific imagery and creeping sense of dread in the upcoming film.
As Dakota Johnson’s aspiring dance student Susie Bannion arrives at a private dance academy in Berlin, she discovers the school is overseen by three ancient matriarchs known as the Three Mothers including Suspiria, the Mother of Darkness. As Susie is drawn deeper into the dance school, its secrets — and body count — begin to rise.

The Three Mothers was a term coined by Italian filmmaker regarding his trilogy of horror films centered on three witches preying on young women. They include 1977’s Suspiria, 1980’s Inferno, and 2007’s The Mother of Tears. The first of the trilogy catapulted Italian horror films into the international spotlight with its striking cinematography and use of color.
Opting to use a more earthy, muted color palette to distance itself from the original film, Luca Guadagnino’s remake promises to bring a very different but no less deadly kind of horror to the big screen.

Directed by Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name), Suspiria stars Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia Goth, and star of the original film Jessica Harper. It will be released on November 2.
