Perhaps if Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger had survived the events of Black Panther, the climactic battle against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War could’ve gone a lot differently.
While promoting a charity event supporting Lupus LA, Jordan was asked for his thoughts on a hypothetical showdown between his character and the Mad Titan.

“I think the one thing about Killmonger is he really plans his attacks and they’re well thought out. So if he ever stepped in a situation with Thanos, he would feel confident that he had the upper hand; at the very least, he would know he had a shot.” explained Jordan in an interview with The A.V. Club. “We already know that Erik’s willing to sacrifice himself for a greater good so I don’t think he’s ever fearful of losing his life. So I think if he ever stepped in front of Thanos, he’d already have a plan for taking him down.”
Widely received as the fan-favorite character of the MCU film, Killmonger had prepared for years to face T’Challa and take over Wakanda. While the Marvel hero ultimately triumphed, Killmonger’s initial plan progressed relatively unimpeded. As T’Challa and the most of the Avengers met a tragic end facing Thanos in Infinity War as they failed to stop the Avengers villain from using the Infinity Gauntlet to wipe out half of all life in the universe, perhaps Killmonger may have stopped the Mad Titan before he could complete his own nefarious plot.

In the meantime, fans can see Jordan reprise another fan-favorite role as Adonis Creed in Creed II on November 21. No word on if the boxer will face Thanos in the ring.
