John Stewart Stars on Jim Lee’s Issue 6 Cover

John Stewart steps into the spotlight of Jim Lee’s latest variant cover for Scott Snyder and Jorge Jimenez’s Justice League.

Ever since DC’s premier ensemble series was relaunched last month, Lee has provided stunning variant covers for every issue each focusing on a different member of the team. The debut issue showcased Batman in action while the upcoming fifth issue centered on Cyborg.

John Stewart’s appearance as Green Lantern is intriguing given his role so far in the new series: The superhero was targeted by Sinestro as supervillain launched the Ultraviolet Corps with the brand new Lantern Corps tapping into the previously unseen Ultraviolet Spectrum. As part of Sinestro’s plot, Stewart was transformed into an Ultraviolet Lantern and unable to use his trusty Green Lantern power ring.

The sixth issue promises to continue to raise the stakes against DC’s flagship superteam as the heroes face threats from all sides. As the Flash deals with the newly discovered Still Force, Lex Luthor and the Joker race to reach a fragment of the Source Wall before the team. Meanwhile, Sinestro’s Ultraviolet Lanterns launch an ambitious, cosmic assault of their own.

If Lee’s variant cover is any indicator, Stewart will be packing some serious, willpower-fueled heat in his latest bid to defend the DC Universe.

Justice League #6 is written by Scott Snyder with art by Jorge Jimenez and Alejandro Sanchez. It is scheduled for release on August 15 by DC Comics.
