DC Announces Artists, Release Dates, New Titles for Youth Imprints


DC Comics today announced a new slate of titles for the company’s youth-focused imprints, DC Zoom and DC Ink. The news was announced Thursday morning at a press conference at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

The publisher started by announcing new titles for its DC Ink imprint, which focuses on young adults. Author Marieke Nijkamp will pen the young adult graphic novel Oracle: Rising, a story about a teenage Oracle. Nijkamp is best known for her New York Times bestselling novel This Is Where It Ends. Sarah Kuhn will pen Shadow of the Batgirl, a story about a teenage Cassandra Cain. Kuhn is best known for her Heroine Complex novel series.

Also announced was Truth or Consequences: A Jack Hyde Story, which is the working title for an Aqualad story by Alex Sanchez (Rainbow Boys). Dick Grayson: Lost Carnival will be written by Michael Moreci (Roche Limit). Wonder Woman: Warbringer will be adapted from prose into a graphic novel by Louise Simonson.

The publisher also announced several titles for its DC Zoom imprint, which focuses on middle grade graphic novels. Shannon and Dean Hale will pen Diana, Princess of the Amazons, the imprint’s first story starring Wonder Woman. The duo are best known for their work on the Eisner-nominated Rapunzel’s Revenge graphic novel.

The press conference also included more information about creative teams and sale dates for previously announced titles. Superman Smashes the Klan will be illustrated by Gurihiru Studios. Green Lantern: Legacy will be illustrated by Andie Tong. Dear Justice League‘s Michael Northrop will be joined by Gustavo Duarte. Thomas Pitilli will illustrate Gotham High. Chris Wildgoose will provide art for Marie Lu’s Batman: Nightwalker. Official cover art for the title can be found below.

Previously announced titles to receive sale dates include Mera: Tidebreaker and Super Sons: The Polarshield Project, both of which will release in April 2019.
