Episode IX May Return to England for Filming

Now that Solo has come and gone, fans have turned their attention towards the next big Star Wars release: Episode IX, the conclusion to the first Disney trilogyWhile not much is known about the film, one of the filming locations for the project has come to light.

According to English airship historian and Star Wars fanatic Trevor Monk, it would appear that the movie franchise will return to the Cardington Airship Sheds in Bedfordshire, England. According to Monk, he has been told by multiple, unrelated people that the new Star Wars film will be shot in part at the Cardington Airship Sheds.

“Hearing Episode IX will have parts filmed at Shed 2 at Cardington. Heard from three different people so far,” Monk told Star Wars News Net. “One works there and said he wouldn’t say — but clued me well. The others are contacts separate from the first person saying the same. Nothing physical yet to show.”

If this information is true, it would mark the third time that the Star Wars franchise has filmed at the Cardington Airship Sheds. Rogue One’s Yavin IV scenes were filmed  at the location, as were A New Hope‘s Massassi Temple scenes.

While there is no substantial evidence at this time, Monk is the same source who tipped SWNN off about filming at the Cardington Airship Sheds during Rogue One, which makes the chances that his information is correct again seem high.

Star Wars: Episode IX is set to arrive in theaters on December 20, 2019. The movie will star Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron.
