A new trailer has been released for upcoming anime film My Hero Academia the Movie: The Two Heroes!
The trailer reveals more plot points for the original story and its “Blank Summer”, which begins with All Might and the rest of the U.A. High School students taking an extended field trip to I Island. There, they meet a formerly Quirkless researcher named Melissa, who is actually the daughter of David, one of All Might’s best friends. Unfortunately, their reunion takes a sour turn thanks to a villain named Wolfram. The movie is also expected to reveal a startling secret or two from All Might’s past.
Also previewed in the trailer was the film’s theme song “Long Hope Philia”, performed by actor and singer Suda Masaki. Recently noted for starring in Gintama’s live action film adaptation as Shimura Shinpachi, this is his first time providing the theme song for an anime.
Originally created by Horikoshi Kouhei, My Hero Academia was first serialized in July 2014 in Weekly Shonen Jump. In a world where most of the population have powers (or “Quirks”), protagonist Midoriya Izuku has always dreamed of following in the footsteps of All Might, the best pro hero around. Despite lacking a Quirk, Izuku is one day given an unexpected chance to pursue his heroic nature when he meets the legend himself.
My Hero Academia the Movie: The Two Heroes premieres in Japan on Aug. 3.
