While many viewers were drawn into the drama and mysteries of the reimagined Lost in Space, focused on the plight of the Robinson family and the schemes of Dr. Smith, others were more preoccupied with the new Robot. Not so much its origins or motivations, but rather … its body. Its (apparently) sexy, sexy body. Well, Netflix knows what you’ve been doing, and has responded — with a video, naturally.
The streaming service acknowledges that, while it was prepared for a “big reaction” to its reboot of the 1960s Irwin Allen classic, it wasn’t expecting for all the “hot robot” chatter on social media. The video superimposes Twitter comments about Robot, and its butt, over footage of the extraterrestrial creation, and its butt: “The thirst is very real.”

Of course, just because Netflix recognizes this unexpected fixation on Robot doesn’t mean the company understands it. “We’re confused too,” the streaming service states in the video, adding on Twitter, “Y’all need Jesus.” Perhaps we should add that to the list of the biggest unanswered questions from Season 1.

Although Netfix doesn’t release audience metrics, Nielsen data indicates 6.3 million viewers in the United States watched Lost in Space in its first three days of release on the streaming platform. The number of those who think Robot is hot will probably require additional research.
Steaming now on Netflix, the 10-episode first season of Lost in Space stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Maxwell Jenkins, Taylor Russell, Mina Sundwall, Ignacio Serricchio and Parker Posey.
