As record-breaking as Avengers: Infinity War has been, the Marvel Studios film was unsuccessful at giving its Marvel Cinematic Universe television counterpart, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a boost in the ratings.
The ratings for the May 4 episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were in the same demographic as it’s April 27 episode, which is the date that Infinity War arrived in theaters nationwide. May 4’s “Option Two” referred to Thanos’ attack on New York City during the opening moments of Infinity War, when Tony “Candyman” Caine asked Daisy Johnson if she’d seen the aliens destructive attack. Daisy simply replied that “I can’t watch the news. It makes me crazy.”

However, the lack of a rating boost won’t deter the ABC series from referencing events from the big screen. Adrian Pasdar, who plays Glenn “Graviton” Talbot, revealed that S.H.I.E.L.D. will continue to refer to the film as the show winds up for its Season 5 finale.
“Yeah, we do have stuff in the background periodically that references and ties into whats going on with Avengers: Infinity War,” Pasdar told TVLine. “Yeah, they use that. They always tie in very well with what’s going on [in the movies].”
