Batman: White Knight #8 Variant Unveiled

Sean Gordon Murphy’s Batman: White Knight has flipped the mythos of Batman, painting the Joker as the hero and the Caped Crusader as the antagonist, with the romance between Joker and the first Harley Quinn right smack dab in the middle. Now, Murphy — who is pulling double duty as writer and artist — is celebrating this romance in the form of a variant cover for issue #8, the final issue of this series.

On Twitter, he revealed the rough sketch of the cover, which depicts Joker lifting up Harley as if he’s carrying her over the threshold — something that makes previously shared wedding imagery of the duo all the more intriguing. He also unveiled the inked version of the cover online, illustrating some more detail of the couple’s glee.

The Joker and Harley Quinn’s love has been a big part of Murphy’s story, in regards to what’s keeping Joker sane and in his Napier persona. Initially, he was cured thanks to some mysterious pills, which then saw him take on a politician’s role in order to successfully turn Batman’s allies — and Gotham on the whole — against the overly-aggressive vigilante.

With Harley accepting Jack’s proposal in Issue #2, it now remains to be seen if their wedding will indeed come to fruition when this double-sized finale hits stands on May 2.
