Titan Comics will publish an English translation of McCay, Thierry Smolderen and Jean-Philippe Bramanti’s 2017 French graphic novel fictionalizing the life of acclaimed cartoonist and animator Winsor McCay.
An influential creator, McCay is probably best known for his strip Little Nemo in Slumberland. The immensely influential comic, which ran from 1905-14 and again from 1924-26, has been adapted into a variety of different media over the years, including a 1989 animated film titled Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. McCay also created 1914’s Gertie the Dinosaur, which was the first animated film to feature a dinosaur.

Smolderen is known primarily for his academic work, which includes The Origins of Comics: From William Hogarth to Winsor McCay and French sci-fi comic Gipsy. McCay sees him partner with Bramanti, with whom he has worked since 2000’s McCay 1. La Balançoire hantée. McCay was originally released through Delcourt.
