Agents of SHIELD Photo Reveals Yo-Yo’s Robotic Arms

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez is almost ready to get back in the field. After losing her arms in a fight with Ruby Hale, Yo-Yo will be fitted with new robotic arms in time for “Inside Voices,” next week’s episode.

In a photo debuted by IGN, Yo-Yo wears a black tank top that shows off her new robotic arm prosthetics. She appears to be in the Lighthouse’s gym, perhaps giving them a trial run before getting back in action.

In Jonathan Hickman and Stefano Caselli’s Secret Warriors comic book series, Yo-Yo lost her arms in her first field mission and received similarly high-tech arm prosthetics. However, her prosthetics were developed by S.H.I.E.L.D. tech in the comics, where the show’s characters found theirs from one of General Hale’s old sleeper mechs.

According to executive producer Jed Whedon, Yo-Yo actor Natalia Cordova-Buckley has looked forward to this day for a long time. “Natalia’s been asking us for years,” he revealed.

“Ever since she showed up, she goes, ‘when do I lose my arms? When do I lose my arms?’ We’re like, ‘Coulson lost a hand! Come on, really?’” added executive producer Jeff Bell.

“This is proof that everything that she saw in the future is coming true and is real,” Whedon teased. “I think her agenda of trying to fix these things and her emotional drive behind it will be intensified.”

Yo-Yo also received robotic arm prosthetics in the comics.
