The beloved comics icon, who started his professional career in the late-’80s, earning the moniker “the Michael Bay of comics,” was known for stylizing his characters with big guns and, yes, pouches. Oh so many pouches.

Best known these days for creating the Marvel Comics anti-hero Deadpool, Liefeld actually got his start at DC Comics, pencilling a well-received Hawk & Dove series. Soon bringing his unique style to Marvel, Liefeld took over The New Mutants, which eventually morphed into the fan-favorite X-Force series, led by another one of his beloved creations, Cable.
Most recently, Liefeld has been drawing covers for his line of Extreme comics at Image, in addition to the odd variant cover for Marvel.
