MHA Movie Reveals Title & Release and More From AnimeJapan!


Held at Tokyo Big Sight from Mar. 22−25, AnimeJapan 2018 had its biggest year yet with over 150,000 visitors! As one would expect, there was plenty of exciting news revealed over the course of the four days, but sifting through all of it can be a little intimidating. Whether you’re here to catch up or relive the excitement, here’s your chance to get a quick summary of the event’s most important announcements!

Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online Receives New Trailer

Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online revealed a new trailer showing fans exactly what they can expect of the hotly anticipate spinoff series’ anime adaptation. Set to premiere Apr. 7, the story follows the journey of college student Karen, who deals with her insecurities about her own height by choosing a shorter avatar in the world of Gun Gale Online. One day, she is approached by the beautiful Pitohui and ends up having to participate in a team tournament titled Squad Jam.

My Hero Academia Movie Reveals Title & Release Date

Deku and the rest of My Hero Academia’s aspiring heroes (plus villains!) will be making their film debut on Aug. 3! Titled My Hero Academia the Movie: The Two Heroes, the film features an original story taking place between Seasons 2 and 3. A new key visual was also unveiled, following the first announcement at Jump Festa 2018.

The Seven Deadly Sins to be Adapted Into Stage Play

The fantasy adventure series written by Suzuki Nakaba will be rewarding fans with not only an anime film on Aug. 18, but also a special stage play to commemorate the occasion! Specific dates or cast details are yet to be revealed, but the play will be held sometime in Aug. 2018 in Tokyo and Osaka.

Fate/Grand Order Reveals Release Date and PVs For New Entries

The first part of popular smartphone game Fate/Grand Order sequel Fate/Grand Order: Cosmos in the Lostbelt will premiere on Apr. 4. Fans can get a taste of the game’s future with the newly released visual and PV, featuring a multitude of familiar characters.

Fate/Grand Order Arcade has also released its third PV. This arcade game will be available to play in Japan sometime in July.

Non Non Biyori Finds Excitement in New Film PV

Miyauchi Renge and all of her new friends will be taking a much needed vacation with tons of fun in the upcoming film Non Non Biyori Vacation! Premiering in Japan on Aug. 25, the first trailer was debuted at AnimeJapan 2018. Aside from the cute characters and charming personalities, it’s easy to tell the film will also be filled with gorgeous scenic views of the Japanese countryside!

Golden Kamuy Unveils New PV

Also announced at AnimeJapan 2018 was a new PV for Noda Satoru’s Golden Kamuy, plus the addition of Sugita Tomokazu (playing Nikaidou Kouhei), Otsuka Akio (Nihei Tetsuzou) and Seki Toshihiko (Henmi Kazuo) to the cast. Set to premiere on Apr. 9, it follows a war veteran who sets off with the help of an Ainu girl after finding a map that promises the discovery of gold.

Anime Adaptation Announced for Renai Bakumatsu Kareshi~ Toki no Kanata de Hanasaku Koi

The popular samurai-themed otome game is receiving its own anime adaptation titled Bakumatsu, to premiere sometime in 2018! Directed by Watanabe Masaki with animation by Studio Deen, the anime will feature an original story.

First Trailer for Goblin Slayer Premieres

AnimeJapan 2018 saw the debut of the first trailer for the anime adaptation Kagyu Kumo’s dark fantasy Goblin Slayer! It also revealed the main staff and opening theme “Mob mentality”, performed by Japanese group Mili. The story follows the Goblin Slayer, who saves a young adventurer named Priestess after her entire traveling party is killed by goblins. Afterwards, she decides to travel with him as he goes around hunting goblins without mercy.

High Score Girl Anime Adaptation Coming In July

The romantic comedy by Oshikiri Rensuke will soon premiere its first anime adaptation in Jul. 2018! Attendees of AnimeJapan were treated to the first glance at the trailer and key visual. The protagonists are Yaguchi Haruo, a skilled gamer with no other talents, and Oona Akira, a girl who has everything in the world but turns to games to escape her reality.
