Jack Quaid Joins The Boys as Wee Hughie

Amazon’s adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s The Boys has cast Jack Quaid, best known for his role in the Hunger Games franchise, as one of The Boys.

Deadline reports Quaid has been cast as Hughie Campbell, aka Wee Hughie, the protagonist of the comic book series. Hughie is recruited into The Boys by Billy Butcher after his girlfriend Mallory is accidentally killed in a fight with A-Train. In the comic book series, Hughie is drawn to resemble actor and writer Simon Pegg.

Quaid, the son of actors Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, joins a cast featuring Erin Moriarty (Jessica Jones), Laz Alonso (Fast & Furious), Antony Starr (American Gothic), House of Cards‘ Dominique McElligott and Jessie T. Usher (Independence Day: Resurgence), among others. The series will be helmed by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke and long-time collaborators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Amazon’s eight-episode series adaptation is set to debut in early 2019.

Dynamite Entertainment’s The Boys, which ran for 72 issues from 2008 to 2012, depicted a world where superheroes had become amoral celebrities that often engaged in destructive and selfish behavior. The Boys are a CIA squad that keeps those heroes in check, taking them out permanently if need be.
