Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan Stars in Fahrenheit 451 Trailer

The clip clocks in at just over a minute and focuses on Michael B. Jordan’s Guy Montag: A ‘fireman’ or special operative who finds books, which are illegal in this era, and burns them. It’s set to a voice-over from Michael Shannon’s Captain Beatty, the lead supervisor of Montag’s army, who warns against any and all forms of information, from books to news and the internet.

In the novel, Montag comes to have doubts about his profession and this inner-conflict leads him to question the government and why books are outlawed. He realizes that while he was taught they are communicating ideas seen as dangerous, they’re actually needed to better humanity. The heat eventually touches home when Montag’s family is placed in danger as he seeks to right his wrongs.

The book was already adapted into a film in 1966 starring Oskar Werner and Julie Christie. Directorial duties have now fallen to Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes, Chop Shop) and fans are eager to see how Jordan, currently starring in Black Panther as Erik Killmonger, handles the role of being a philosophical savior.
