Arnold Schwarzenegger Boards Kung Fury Sequel

The sequel to Kung Fury is getting even more star power with news that Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed on to the film. He joins Michael Fassbender, who recently boarded the project. The film is a continuation of David Sandberg’s short action-comedy that paid homage to ’80s crime and martial arts films.

Schwarzenegger recently brought back the ’80s nostalgia in The Expendables franchise. Here, the Predator star will get a chance to put his experience as former Governor of California to use, as he’s set to play the American president. Schwarzenegger joins Sandberg (writer and director of the project) who will be reprising his role as the the titular time-traveling cop in the follow-up to his 31-minute film that was funded via a $630,000 Kickstarter campaign.

The Swedish film quickly went viral as fans lapped up its wanton violence and outrageous characters such as a homicidal arcade game, a Nazi-killing Norse god and, naturally, the “Kung Führer,” aka Adolf Hitler (who came equipped with a giant and very lethal robotic bird). Fassbender’s role is yet to be revealed, but, in the meantime, fans can also look forward to David Hasselhoff, who sang the theme song “True Survivor,” joining the cult flick. The Kung Fury movie sees Fury go up against mysterious threats that are aiding Hitler in his quest to conquer the world after he travels through time to the present day.
