Black Lightning‘s Lady Eve has stepped out of the shadows in a new photo from the freshman series. The photo offers a first look at Grammy-winning artist Jill Scott in the role.
Per Entertainment Weekly, the photo finds Lady Eve in a morgue. She stands over an autopsied body and brandishes a pointer at The 100’s notorious leader Tobias Whale, who looks admonished in the face of her anger. She will debut in “Lawanda: The Book of Burial,” next week’s episode.

According to the character’s official description, Lady Eve “serves as a bridge between Tobias Whale (played by L.A. rapper Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III) and a secret group of corrupt leaders.” Speaking to CBR, Jones went on to elaborate Whale’s relationship to Lady Eve, saying, “Lady Eve is the only person of authority over him. It means something to him, I think ultimately because it’s a woman. I think ultimately his affinity for Lady Eve has to do with the fact that she’s kind of a mother figure to him — but she’s not his mother.”
