Some of Japan’s most popular characters are taking a trip back to the past in a special exhibition set to take place in Shinjuku’s Takashimaya department store.
Hugely popular during its Kyoto run last year, the exhibition features well known Japanese characters like Hatsune Miku, Rilakkuma, and Phoenix in beautiful, traditional Japanese scenes.
In order to create these wonderful images, the worlds of anime, manga, and traditional art have been brought together by the head of the Hosomi Museum in Kyoto, Hosomi Yoshiyuki.
During the exhibition, there will also be a selection of merchandise on offer, including postcards and clear files featuring the artwork created for the show.
The exhibition is taking place in the 11th floor exhibition space of Shinjuku’s Takashimaya department store from Jan. 10-16, 2018 (10:00 am to 7.30 pm). Late opening until 8:00 pm is also available on Jan. 12 and 13, and the exhibition will close at 5.30pm on the final day, Jan. 16.
