Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow to Share Monday Time Slot

When The CW’s superhero lineup returns in the new year, it will be with an additional series and an unconventional schedule shift.

TVLine reports that while Supergirl will return with a new episode on Monday, Jan. 15, it will only be back for a few short weeks. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will take its Monday at 8 p.m. slot starting on Feb. 12, and air for nine new episodes straight. The Legends season finale is scheduled to air on April 9; then, Supergirl will return with all new episodes starting April 16. It’ll air weekly until it reaches its own season finale in mid-June.

This change was sparked (no pun intended) by the arrival of the new DC Comics-based series Black Lightning. That show will take the Tuesdays at 9 p.m. time slot previously held by Legends of Tomorrow. While this might be a harsh wait for Supergirl fans, Arrowverse viewers can rejoice in the fact that they will have original programming on Mondays for four straight months.

While Black Lightning is said to take place outside of the Arrowverse, the Greg Berlanti-produced series is still very much based on DC characters and concepts. The series premieres Jan. 16, after an all new episode of The Flash.
