SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for “Thanksgiving,” the latest episode of Arrow.
Thea Queen is back. In “Thanksgiving,” the latest episode of Arrow, Oliver’s sister woke from the coma she has been in since the explosion on Lian Yu in the Season 5 finale.
While Oliver was visiting Diggle in the hospital, their mutual doctor friend entered the room with news about Thea. Oliver ran to his sister’s room, only to discover her awake and sitting by the window in a wheelchair. Subsequently, he brought in a Thanksgiving dinner as well as Diggle, Felicity and William in order to celebrate.

“I have a lot to catch you up on,” Oliver told her after she quickly expressed confusion over his new status quo.
Asked how she made such a “miraculous recovery,” Thea joked, “The Lazarus Pit water.”
Felicity was quick to say the real answer was modern medicine. “For blast victims like Thea in a minimally conscious state, the trick is just to find the right drug to literally wake her brain up,” she explained. She revealed Thea’s cure to be a brand new medicine that “wasn’t even on the market yet.” “So more like cutting-edge neuroscience than, I don’t know, a miracle,” she concluded.

“It seems pretty miraculous to me,” Diggle said.
On the ending note of the episode, Oliver told Thea how much he missed her and said to his team in general, “I’ve never had more to be thankful for.”
As revealed in the Season 6 premiere, Thea has been in a coma for months, effectively removing her from the playing board. Since Thea actress Willa Holland continues to be attached to the show in a major role, it was only a matter of time before she woke up.

At this time, it’s unclear what Thea’s future holds. She likely won’t be involved in the crossover, which airs next week. What’s more, she quit Team Arrow last season, effectively hanging up her hood as Speedy. Over the course of Season 5, she became an important member of Mayor Queen’s office, a role which Rene “Wild Dog” Ramirez has since taken up. As such, Thea’s future on Arrow is uncertain, but wide open for a new direction.
Starring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer (well, not currently), Arrow airs Thursdays at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, Willa Holland and more.
