Ben Mendelsohn is attached to Marvel Studios’ upcoming Captain Marvel movie, but the actor has revealed his ideal Marvel character to portray would actually be Fantastic Four foe Victor Von Doom, AKA Doctor Doom, one of the most beloved supervillains in Marvel Comics history.

Making an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Mendelsohn discussed the character and why he gravitates towards him. “Doctor Doom is the greatest comic character of all time. That’s a great role,” the actor said. “The thing that’s appealing about Victor is the damage and trauma, the loss of the family, the wrong done to him and then the takeover, the revenge, and then the protectiveness of Latveria wrapped in that Cold War vibe.”
“There’s something about the combination of that. What actually makes him great is his caring bit,” he continued.
Fox is said to be developing a Doctor Doom movie, after its failed reboot of Fantastic Four in 2015. No details have been revealed about Noah Hawley’s Doctor Doom flick since it was announced at Comic-Con International in San Diego earlier this year, during the Legion panel.
