Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc Unveils New Visual!

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc revealed a new visual on Twitter, along with the broadcast date! The series will premiere on Jan. 7 at 7:30 am on NHK BS Premium.

The new visual highlights Sakura in a beautiful white costume (likely made by Tomoyo) with gold accents and crystals, surrounded by her cards featuring Syaoran, Tomoyo, Toya, Yukito, and others.

Written and illustrated by CLAMP, Cardcaptor Sakura started serialization in 1996 in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine. It follows Kinomoto Sakura, a 4th-year student on her quest to collect the Clow Cards. One of the anniversary projects for the series’ 20th birthday in 2016, Clear Card Arc finds Sakura and her friends in junior high school, when she sees a strange dream with a mysterious cloaked figure. Realizing all of her cards are blank and lost their power, Sakura sets out on a quest to find out what happened, encountering transparent cards waiting to be captured along the way.

The nostalgia is strong with this one, as Clear Card Arc welcomes back most of the main staff and main characters the original series with the addition of new faces such as Akiho and her little rabbit Momo. Not to mention, Sakamoto Maaya, the artist who sung “Platinum” for the third season, will be performing the opening song “CLEAR” for the new series.

How will the new Cardcaptor Sakura look after these 20 years?
