Marvel artist CAFU crafts new Blu-ray art for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, featuring Dead Strange rising from his grave.
Marvel Studios has unveiled stunning new Blu-ray art for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which comes from Marvel comic book artist CAFU (Iron Man, Valkyrie: Jane Foster).
CAFU’s Blu-ray jacket for Multiverse of Madness — which was revealed today, July 27, and can be downloaded and printed on Marvel’s official website — sees the zombified version of Doctor Strange rising from his rooftop grave before venturing to Mount Wundagore to face off with the Scarlet Witch. The Doctor Strange sequel was officially released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD yesterday, July 27.
Multiverse of Madness opens on Defender Strange, a multiversal variant of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). Hailing from Earth-TRN953 (designated by Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi as Earth-617), Defender Strange is killed early in the film, at which point the MCU’s main Doctor Strange buries him beneath an assortment of bricks on a New York City rooftop.
Later in the film, Strange finds himself stranded in a devastated alternate reality, with no way of physically returning to the MCU (which is referred to as Earth-616 in the film, though is officially designated as Earth-199999 in the Marvel multiverse). In turn, he resorts to dreamwalking, a spell that allows the caster to inhabit the body of another version of themselves in a different universe. Strange possesses the decaying corpse of Defender Strange, thus turning him into a zombie-like creature officially referred to as Dead Strange.
