Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston takes a comebacker to the shoulder while practicing for the All-Star Celebrity Softball game at Dodger Stadium.
Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston was hit by a softball while practicing with In the Heights‘ Anthony Ramos for the All-Star Celebrity Softball game on Saturday night.
Per AP News, Cranston and Ramos were batting in “side-by-side makeshift cages” outside Dodger Stadium when a line drive off of Ramos’ bat struck Cranston in the right shoulder. Cranston was apparently doubled over for a few minutes before heading back to his trailer. “It’s definitely going to bruise,” the actor said. “I might be more of a cheerleader in this game.” Footage of the incident was shared to Twitter by sportswriter Michael J. Duarte.
The 66-year-old Cranston is well known for his role as science teacher turned drug lord Walter White on AMC’s hit series Breaking Bad. The show premiered in 2008 and ran for five seasons, ending in 2013. Cranston’s performance earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series four times, three of which were consecutive. Cranston recently returned to the role of Walter White in the 2019 Netflix film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie — and will soon play the character again as part of the final season of AMC’s spinoff/prequel series Better Call Saul.
Prior to Breaking Bad, Cranston was perhaps best known for his role as Hal Wilkerson on Fox’s Malcolm in the Middle. Since Breaking Bad, Cranston has appeared in many films and television shows, including Godzilla, where he plays Joe Brody; Why Him? where he plays a disapproving father named Ned Fleming; and Power Rangers, where he plays Zordon, the Rangers’ mentor.
Cranston has a number of projects in the works, including Wes Anderson’s newest film, Asteroid City, a rumored love story set in Europe that also stars Stranger Things‘ Maya Hawke, Suicide Squad‘s Margot Robbie and Tom Hanks. The actor also has a role in a new film from X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn called Argylle, which tells the story of the world’s greatest spy. The film also stars Jurassic World‘s Bryce Dallas Howard, Jojo Rabbit‘s Sam Rockwell and Man of Steel‘s Henry Cavill.
