The following article contains spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4, Volume 1, streaming now on Netflix.
Some Stranger Things fans were shocked to realize that actor Joseph Quinn once appeared in a minor role in the HBO series Game of Thrones.
A meme on Twitter featured two Stranger Things actors who have previously played a part in Game of Thrones, one of which was Eddie Munson’s actor Joseph Quinn. As seen in the post, Quinn was dressed as one of the soldiers stationed in Winterfell, sworn to House Stark. Dmitri “Enzo” Antonov’s actor Tom Wlaschiha from Stranger Things also once appeared in Game of Thrones, playing the role of Jaqen H’ghar, famously known as “the man with no face.”
Quinn appeared as Koner in Game of Throne Season 7, Episode 4, “The Spoils of War.” In the episode, Koner was guarding the front gate with another soldier Kent when Arya Stark arrived and demanded to enter the castle. The two believed Arya was an imposter from the winter town and attempted to send her away. When they argued about who would stay to watch Arya and who would report to Sansa Stark, Arya disappeared.
Joseph Quinn joined the cast of Strange Things in Season 4. He played the role of Eddie Munson, a heavy metal guitar player and the leading member of Hawkins High’s Dungeons & Dragons Hellfire club. In Season 4, Volume 1, after witnessing Chrissy’s death, Eddie ran away in fear and became the main suspect in her and Patrick McKinny’s murder. However, the season saw the character’s growth as he joined Dustin and his friends to protect Hawkins from being destroyed by Vecna.
Quinn’s character Eddie Munson has rapidly gained fans’ attention for his natural charisma and odd personality in Season 4. Eddie’s heroic act in Chapter 9 left a strong impression among fans while unfortunately breaking some hearts. Quinn recently opened up about his character’s arc and critical scenes from the show. “It’s a redemption tale,” Quinn said. “I think he’s completely haunted by his inability to do anything to save Chrissy and how powerless he was at that moment. And obviously being blamed for that murder is devastating and then having to go into hiding…then at some point in Episode 8, a switch flips, and he decides that he’s going to prove himself.”
Since the release of Stranger Things Season 4, the series has occupied the top spot on Netflix’s streaming chart. The Duffer Brothers recently expressed interest in releasing a pan and scan version of the show, turning at least the first season into a full-screen, 4:3 format for that old-school feel the series is known for. A Stranger Things stage play set in the show’s universe is also currently in the works.
Stranger Things Season 1-4 is now streaming on Netflix.
