8 Harsh Realities Of Being A Power Ranger

From Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to the more recent Power Rangers SPD, the Power Rangers series have been an integral part of many childhoods all over the world. Power Rangers protect the city and its residents from evil monsters and villains who strive to dominate the entire planet, typically coming face-to-face with the Rangers first.

While Power Rangers are strong, respected, and can defeat even the most bizarre monsters, their life isn’t all about fame and glamour. Being a Power Ranger comes with its pros and cons but sometimes, these harsh realities can be a bit too much to handle, even for these mighty Rangers.

8 Bright Colors Are A Giveaway

Power Ranger suits come in assorted colors, which are usually incredibly bright. While these suits distinguish the Rangers from the surrounding civilians, the outfits are rather damaging to the Rangers’ covert operations. These brightly colored suits are a dead giveaway of the Rangers’ hiding positions, which can result in a matter of life and death in battle.

Apart from the tactical disadvantages of being dressed in bright colors like red, pink, and yellow, there are also aesthetic disadvantages. Most Rangers end up looking quite ridiculous in their suits, especially once the helmet comes off.

7 Power Rangers Aren’t Trained

Power Rangers are rarely shown training or practicing, which would help them hold their own against the monsters and villains they fight. While the newer seasons do try to incorporate a few training episodes, the older seasons were notorious for recruiting novices and pushing them into battle with no guidance or help.

As untrained individuals who are exposed to a considerable amount of information when they are selected to be Rangers, the heroes are bound to face some hardships and be scared for their lives.

6 Strained Relationships Are All Too Common

Most heroes in the Power Rangers franchise – from Tommy Oliver to Sky Tate – are not on good terms with their family members or close relations. No doubt, being a Power Ranger is a demanding job that requires the team members to give their all to their work. However, this leads to their relationships souring.

One of the most significant harsh realities of being a Power Ranger is that most members are never on the same page with the people who care about them. The work-life balance of a Power Ranger is nothing to be envied.

5 Childhoods Are Sacrificed For The Greater Good

Various teams of Power Rangers consist of school-going children and teenagers who are not yet prepared for adult life. Additionally, these team members struggle to shoulder the responsibility that being a Ranger brings. The Rangers have no choice but to juggle their education, their relationships with their peers, and their duties as a hero.

Being a Power Ranger means sacrificing what most children take for granted in their formative years. While Rangers are busy saving the world from wicked villains, their peers are busy with homework and household chores.

4 Days Off Are A Myth

It seems as if there are no days off in the hero business. Power Rangers are expected to show up and fight monsters, irrespective of the time and place. Despite multiple teams of capable Power Rangers existing in the same season, only one team is deployed at a time.

Rangers are expected to fulfill their duties even if they are in the middle of something important or an emergency. The heroes never seem to have days off and are expected to be at the beck and call of their agency and/or handler, constantly waiting to be called into a dangerous battle.

3 Power Rangers Have To Keep Introducing Themselves

After a point in the series, viewers were tired with all the Rangers introducing and re-introducing themselves every time they fought a villain. While it may be written in the heroes’ contract or they just made sure the monsters and villains knew who defeated them, it was definitely exhausting to do so.

The Rangers’ introduction entailed showing their Morphers, saying their catchphrase, stating their element or power, and posing when the transformation is complete. The heroes had to do it each time they faced a monster, new or established.

2 It’s Always A Life And Death Situation

Power Rangers face fatal situations on the daily to protect the world from evildoers. These villains may look ridiculous and unbelievable, but they are powerful and resourceful enough to go up against 5 to 7 Rangers at a time.

Having to face the likes of Master Org, Rita Repulsa, and Tenaya, the heroes in Power Rangers have no choice but to defeat the next villain who’s hell-bent on destroying the world. Rangers must be constantly stressed; every time they fight, they may lose their life. When they step out to protect their city, they put themselves in a lion’s mouth, hoping to escape in time.

1 Power Rangers Have To Constantly Hide Their Identity

Power Rangers are heroes in colorful tights and helmets who carry the best weapons and gadgets to defeat villains who want to take over the world. Apart from their physical health and well-being, Rangers also have to be careful about not revealing their identities to the antagonists and the civilians.

Power Rangers have to be alert at all times, whether this concerns the enemy’s next move and everyone’s current position or keeping their faces inside their helmet at all times and not revealing their real names.
