Pokémon is a franchise that everyone loves, whether a fan grew up with the video games or anime series. Since Pokémon is such a prevalent series fans like to combine its universe with others, especially other anime. Naruto doesn’t share a lot of similarities with Pokémon, but that hasn’t stopped fans from imagining the type of Pokémon all of their favorite characters would have.
Since the series already features fighting animals, it’s not a stretch to think that most Naruto characters would make for fantastic trainers. However, based on the strength and personality of the characters there are some who are far more suited to Pokémon training than others.
10 Naruto Is The Next Toad Sage
Naruto may seem like the type of guy who is far too irresponsible to be a Pokémon trainer. While it’s true that he can be a bit naive and make the wrong decisions, that’s not really true for the animals he works with.
He works incredibly well with Gamabunta and the other toads from Mt. Myoboku. He respects their experience and became a much better fighter by working with them. Someone like him who respects his animal companions would definitely make a good master.
9 Sakura Is Perfectly In Sync With Her Animal Companion
Not only does Sakura follow in Tsunade’s footsteps by becoming a medical ninja, but she also signs a contract with the slug Katsuyu. Sakura and Katsuyu don’t get a lot of opportunities to work together during the series, but the few moments during the war really showcase how amazing Sakura would be as a Pokémon master.
While healing everyone on the battlefield, she is in perfect sync with Katsuyu. They are able to make an area of healing that completely protects everyone. On top of that, Sakura is one of the smartest and most responsible characters in the series, so when it comes to Pokémon training, it’s obvious she would be one of the best at it.
8 Kakashi Is A Natural With His Ninja Hounds
Kakashi relies on his sense of smell a lot during the series, but when his own nose isn’t able to catch a scent, he relies on his team of ninja hounds. Not only did the ninja dogs help him during the fight with Zabuza, but they also assist Naruto and Sakura during Orochimaru’s attack on the village.
It’s obvious the ninja hounds are incredibly skilled, and that’s partially thanks to their partnership with Kakashi. The man may come off as aloof and uncaring, but he’s one of the best Leaf Shinobi. Because of that he’d make for one amazing Pokémon master.
7 Konohamaru Will Grow Into A Great Pokémon Master
Konohamaru is a lot like Naruto in many ways. He’s loud and goofy, but most importantly, he cares for his village and never gives up. At the beginning of the series, when he is incredibly full of himself, there is no way he would have succeeded as a Pokémon master.
However, the years of growth did wonders for him and made him a much more skilled and competent ninja. Someone like him who isn’t afraid to work with others would do well as a trainer, especially if his Pokémon are loud and energetic just like him.
6 Rock Lee Cares About Animals
It’s pretty obvious what kind of trainer Rock Lee would be based on his fighting style. Any fighting type Pokémon would fit in well with Lee, and it’s likely that they could make each other strong by training together. Lee is also an incredibly kind person to both humans and animals.
During the Chunin exams, he even rescues a squirrel with a paper bomb attached to it. It’s obvious Lee would have a close bond with any Pokémon on his team, and they would be unstoppable.
5 TenTen Would Be The Most Knowledgable Trainer
Tenten doesn’t get a lot of spotlight during the series, but on the few occasions that she does fight, she has proven herself to be an incredibly smart and formidable opponent. Her ability to gauge what type of weapons work best in each situation translates perfectly to battling with Pokémon.
It’s likely she would make for an expert on the various Pokémon types and create a team that’s perfectly balanced. Not to mention, her fierce determination and willpower would make her nearly impossible to beat.
4 Kiba Is Already A Pokémon Trainer
Kiba is practically a Pokémon trainer already. He works side by side with his dog Akamaru and they even have several attacks that combine their skills.
Kiba may have heightened senses, but it’s obvious he would be completely lost without his teammate Akamaru. The way they balance each other out is very similar to Ash and Pikachu from Pokémon, which shows what an amazing team they are.
3 Hinata Would Encourage Her Pokémon
A kind and determined person like Hinata is exactly the type of trainer any Pokémon would dream of working with. She may be shy and self-conscious about her own abilities, but she works hard to become a much more confident and competent ninja.
She’s the type of person to cheer on her Pokémon even when they don’t stand a chance of winning. She’s also the type to push herself and her Pokémon team to go beyond their limits and do better.
2 Jiraiya Is The Toad Sage For A Reason
Like Naruto, Jiraiya works closely with the toads of Mt. Myoboku who were willing to stand by him even at the moment of his death. Jiraiya is known as the toad sage for a reason, and that’s because of how well he works together with his toad companions.
Many of his attacks perfectly complement his toads, and he even regularly uses them to travel. Jiraiya may not be the best, but when it comes to technical skill, he would definitely make for one strong Pokémon master.
1 Orochimaru Has All The Traits Of A Snake
Orochimaru may seem a little too evil to be a great Pokémon master, but then again, not every person in the Pokémon universe is a good person. Out of all the characters in Naruto, he is the most in sync with his animal counterpart.
Not only does he have the physical attributes of a snake, but most of his jutsu revolve around snakes. Orochimaru certainly isn’t a good person, but he has all the traits that make for a strong Pokémon master.
