Fans can set the stage for their favorite moments from Obi-Wan Kenobi with two new Hasbro Black Series figures inspired by the Star Wars series.
Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s titular Jedi Master gets the Hasbro Black Series treatment alongside a Darth Vader figure inspired by the Sith Lord’s appearance in the Disney+ series.
Fans can now bring their favorite Obi-Wan Kenobi moments to life with two new figures from Hasbro’s Black Series. The first of these is the fully-articulated Star Wars: The Black Series 6-Inch Ben Kenobi (Tibidon Station) figure, which comes with three accessories also inspired by Obi-Wan Kenobi, including a blaster and lightsaber. The figure is currently available for pre-order for $27.99 and will be ready to ship in spring 2023.
The other new offering from Hasbro is the Star Wars: The Black Series Darth Vader figure, which is currently available to pre-order for $24.99. Like its companion figure, this Darth Vader features fully poseable arms, legs and head. The figure also comes with his iconic red lightsaber as an accessory and is decked out in his slightly brighter Obi-Wan Kenobi armor. Hasbro’s announcement of these figures comes on the heels of another Black Series release, which saw The Mandalorian creator and show-runner Jon Favreau receive his own Star Wars figure. The Star Wars: The Black Series – Jon Favreau Figure was available for pre-order to attendees of Star Wars Celebration 2022.
When asked about how the company determines what characters receive the Black Series treatment, Brand Director Patrick Schneider said, “I mean, we’re in an unprecedented era of Star Wars entertainment, right? We were talking about it earlier, I don’t think it’s ever happened in Star Wars where… we got a trailer for Andor last night before Obi-Wan Kenobi even aired.”
Schnieder continued, “We did not get a trailer for Return of the Jedi before The Empire Strikes Back. With The Black Series, it’s basically surveying the landscape. It’s seeing what information we have from Lucasfilm, what new entertainment is coming forward, and what we think fans of The Black Series want — which can be different from what the fan of the vintage line wants in some cases. It’s about looking at the media that we already have and what people want.”
Obi-Wan Kenobi follows the titular Jedi, a role reprised by Star Wars veteran Ewan McGregor, during his life in exile following the rise of the Galactic Empire. The series also sees the Empire’s hunt for any remaining Jedi, one led by the menacing Force-sensitive assassins known as the Inquisitors. Obi-Wan Kenobi also marks the return of Hayden Christensen to the franchise in his first appearance as Darth Vader since 2005’s Revenge of the Sith.
The Star Wars: The Black Series 6-Inch Ben Kenobi (Tibidon Station) and Star Wars: The Black Series Darth Vader figures are both available for pre-order now at HasbroPulse. They will be available for retail purchase in spring 2023.
