Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’s latest trailer highlights the new movie’s supporting cast, which includes Frieza, Beerus, Buu and more.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero released a short new trailer.
The 15-second promo video begins with a new look at Goku and Vegeta fighting an unseen foe, before cutting to a series of shots of many of the other supporting characters who will appear in the film, including Goku’s best friend, Krillin, who will have a new outfit in the movie, and an older Dende, the young Namekian who aided the series’ warriors in their original battle against Frieza. Speaking of Frieza, the villain can be glimpsed in the new trailer for a split second, alongside similarly quick looks at many of the series’ former antagonists, including Majin Buu and Broly.
This is the second short trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero to be released recently, as three days ago a promo video focused on the movie’s main characters, Gohan and Piccolo, was also released. That trailer showcased new footage of Gohan fighting alongside Goten and Trunks, who have also been given new character designs to reflect the new film’s place on the Dragon Ball timeline. New clips of Piccolo in his new, golden-colored transformation were also shown.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is set sometime after the events of the Broly movie and the manga’s Moro arc. The movie concentrates on the bond between Piccolo and his original pupil, Gohan, as they fight against the Red Ribbon Army, Goku’s old foes who have returned and kidnapped Gohan’s daughter, Pan. The Red Ribbon Army have created two new android warriors, Gamma 1 and 2, and are also working on a mysterious ultimate weapon, which many fans think will be a new version of Cell, the genetically engineered warrior that Gohan defeated in Dragon Ball Z.
Viewers in Japan will find out more about the Red Ribbon Army’s plans and Piccolo’s new form when the movie premieres in the region on June 11. Super Hero was originally scheduled to be released last April, but was delayed a month before its release after animation company Toei Animation became the victim of a targeted ransomware attack that halted production on many of its projects. The film will be released internationally by Crunchyroll sometime later this summer.
All of the Dragon Ball anime series, ranging from the original 1986 TV show to the 2017 adaptation of Dragon Ball Super, are now available for streaming on the Crunchyroll platform. Akira Toriyama’s original manga is also available in English from publisher VIZ Media.
