10 Anime Characters Who Would Pass The Chunin Exams

In Naruto, Genin-level ninjas have the opportunity to rise through the ranks and become Chunin-level. However, they have to pass a series of exams. First, they have to pass a nearly impossible paper test. Then they have to survive the Forest of Death. Finally, they have to participate in a single-elimination tournament to prove that they’re the best of the best.

Plenty of characters across anime would rise to the challenge and pass the infamous Chunin exams with flying colors. With impressive powers and even quicker wit, these characters certainly have what it takes to pass the brutal Chunin exams.

10 Erza Has The Guts To Survive Anything (Fairy Tail)

If there’s any anime character who can withstand any challenge ahead of her, it’s Erza Scarlet. This woman has overcome some pretty intense tribulations throughout her life. Compared to escaping the Tower of Heaven or destroying a massive meteorite, the Chunin exams would be a cakewalk for her.

She’s one of the strongest members of the Guild, so she’s capable of taking on some of Naruto’s best ninjas and winning. Erza wouldn’t come out of the exams unscathed, but she’d put up a good fight. Erza might even give characters like Naruto or Neji a run for their money.

9 Ichigo Would Pass With Flying Colors (Bleach)

Ichigo is a master swordsman who could defeat plenty of anime’s most daunting villains without breaking a sweat. Passing the Chunin exams wouldn’t be easy, but he’d certainly succeed.

Ichigo’s Quincy and Hollow powers would easily overpower most jutsu. Plus, his powers automatically heal him, so he’d be able to focus on the opponent at hand. His biggest competition would be characters like Gaara and Naruto. However, he’d be able to break Gaara’s sand shields with ease. Plus, Naruto’s shadow clone jutsu wouldn’t fool him.

8 Giorno’s Gold Experience Defeats Jutsu Any Day Of The Week (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind)

Giorno Giovanna has what it takes to pass the Chunin Exams. Firstly, the paper exams would be a cinch for him. He’s quick-witted and clever enough subtlely cheat his way through the first round of the test — as proven by his success as a con artist on the streets of Italy. However, the Forest of Death would be where he proves his true strengths.

Giorno’s Gold Experience would overpower most of the jutsu in Naruto. Since it’s a stand that can manipulate nature, Giorno would be able to blend in and quickly make it out of the forest unscathed. Finally, the one-on-one tournament would be where he truly proves his strengths. Some of the strongest ninjas would certainly put up a good fight against him, but a single punch from Gold Experience would instantly stun his opponent, leaving them defenseless.

7 Yusuke Shouldn’t Be Underestimated (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Realistically, Yusuke is strong enough to go head-to-head with some of Naruto’s strongest characters, such as Sasuke. Underestimating him is a mistake, and he’d quickly prove people’s expectations wrong with a single punch.

His strength would shine in the Forest of Death. As shown during his fight with Gouki, Yusuke is strong enough to pick up a fallen tree and use it as a weapon. It did considerable damage to a demon and would probably be even more devastating to whichever ninja would cross him in the forest.

6 Nagisa Shiota Is An Assassination Prodigy (Assassination Classroom)

Nagisa would be a dark horse in the Chunin exams. People tend to disregard him since he doesn’t look like much of a threat. He’s an assassination prodigy, so he could apply many strategies he learned in Class E to the Chunin Exams.

The paper test would be a cakewalk for Nagisa since he’s observant of his surroundings. He’d be able to cheat, and no one would even realize he was copying their answers. The Forest of Death would be challenging, but his combat skills aren’t anything to scoff at, as proven by his victory in the civil war. In the one-on-one battles, Nagisa would succeed thanks to his cunning one-on-one fighting skills. Like many of his previous opponents, he’d be sure to freak a few of the ninjas out with his calm, unexpected attacks.

5 Levi Ackerman Has Everything It Takes To Pass The Chunin Exams (Attack On Titan)

Levi Ackerman isn’t recognized as humanity’s strongest fighter for no reason. When ambushed, he swiftly took care of all the attackers and then destroyed a whole regiment of soldiers. It’s pretty hard to find other characters in his own series that are on his level. Levi may be a clean freak, but he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty.

Even though he learned these skills to fight titans, Levi would easily apply them to the Chunin exams. The Forest of Death and the tournament terrains would give him an advantage since he could quickly deploy his ODM gear and use the environment to gain the upper hand against opponents.

4 Bakugo Would Easily Overpower His Opponents (My Hero Academia)

Bakugo is one of the most ruthless opponents anybody could ever face. He gives it all in every fight and refuses to go easy on anyone. In the Chunin exams, this behavior is necessary for survival and passing.

His biggest challenge would be the written exam, but he’d surely find a way to solve all of the questions whether he cheats or not. Plus, he’d see through the proctor’s mind games. In the tournament and the Forest of Death, however, Bakugo has the upper hand solely because his explosions are too powerful for others to handle.

3 The Chunin Exams Would Be A Cakewalk For Killua (Hunter X Hunter)

The Chunin Exams would hardly be a challenge for Killua. In the written portion, he’d find a clever way to cheat. Plus, the proctor’s mind games wouldn’t fool him in the slightest. The Forest of Death and the one-on-one tournament would also be ridiculously easy for him.

Considering that he does one-on-one battles against strong opponents as a hobby in Heaven’s Arena, a few genin-level ninjas would hardly be opponents for him. Killua could easily pass the Chunin Exams, but most of Naruto’s cast would fail the Hunter Exams.

2 Tanjiro’s Swordsmanship Would Stun His Competition (Demon Slayer)

Tanjiro Kamado would be another dark horse in the Chunin Exams. However, as proven during the Final Selection, he has what it takes to survive in grievous circumstances. The paper exams would probably be a cinch for him, and he’s so intelligent that he likely wouldn’t even have to cheat.

In the tournament, his swordsmanship would stun his opponents. He’d have to be careful not to let his attack patterns become predictable. If Tanjiro continuously switches between Water and Flame breathing techniques, it’d be enough to throw his opponents off guard and lead him to a well-earned victory.

1 Yuji Itadori’s Victory Would Be Similar To Naruto’s (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Fighting ninjas is an entirely different playing field than defeating cursed spirits, but Yuji has what it takes to apply his combat knowledge to the Chunin Exams and pass. His biggest challenge would be the psychological warfare on the written exam, but he’d likely react the same way Naruto did and, thankfully, get through to the next stage.

The Forest of Death would be similar to the Goodwill Event, so he’d be able to apply his knowledge from that in order to survive in the forest. However, the tournament would be interesting since cursed energy and chakra are very similar power systems. It’d be an easy win if Yuji were up against someone like Rock Lee or Temari. Going up against an opponent like Neji or Gaara, however, would prove more challenging.
